ARE YOU TOO DEPENDENT ON GOD?

Often when around people and they are speaking of prayer I hear them say, “When God is ready He will do it”, or “If it is His will I will have it” or similar “prayer” statements. These may have a “form of godliness” but they “deny the power thereof”.  The main reason this occurs is found in Matthew 22:29 when Jesus said, “You are in error not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.” This is more true today than ever before because we can hear without study from many media sources. Ministries that are solid, correct and of integrity are available 24/7 as well as the “other kind.” This results in many “hearers only” without personal prayer and study of the Scriptures to “show themselves approved of God, workmen who need not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Even correct teaching must be submitted to God through personal prayer and study to discern what truth you should receive for your life. Failing to do this we no longer prophesy the word of God when we speak but parrot it, simply repeating what we have heard another saying.

Please do not misunderstand. There is absolutely nothing wrong in listening to others teach and testify the word of God. God has even gifted men to do so. But hearing ONLY what another speaks may inspire and even excite you, but studying and receiving from the Holy Spirit as your Teacher brings revelation and transforms you. In Acts 17:11 we read of the Berean believers searching the Scriptures daily to confirm the teachings of the Apostle Paul.

You must do likewise and study for yourself to see if what I am saying is truth in Scripture for it may challenge your current belief. I am emphatically saying that too many born again, righteous by faith and Spirit filled sons of God today are in error concerning prayer and other Gospel truths. This is due mostly to their not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God for themselves, thereby choosing to blindly follow the traditions and incorrect teachings of men, however well intentioned and sincere.

TOO DEPENDENT ON GOD? What a ridiculous question to ask! How could we possibly be too dependent on God Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient?  Have you lost your ever-loving mind Nelson? No, I have not and I hope you will see as we read the Scriptures, the question is not ridiculous at all and answering it could possibly change the way you pray and receive into your life from now on.

That’s all for now.

Until next time read Genesis 1:26-30; Psalms 115:16; Psalm 82 and Mark 11:22-23.

As you are reading keep in mind these four words God spoke in Genesis 1:27, “Let Us…let them.”

Why does He say this? Who is He talking to? Where are they?  What are they to be doing? When does this happen? How long is this to continue happening?
